Outdoor activities - Alps and Svalbard

A year in the mountains you won't forget!

With Hallingdal as a base and study trips to the Alps and Svalbard, you will have a year of outdoor life, new challenges and community. We will hike and ski, explore the mountains and learn to make good choices on trips.

Autumn starts outside. We actively use the mountains around Hallingdal, get to know each other as a group and build basic skills in outdoor activities. Through hikes, climbing and bouldering we learn to cooperate, use the equipment and make good choices along the way.

When winter comes, we move further up into the high mountains. We work with summit hiking , randonee , avalanche awareness and winter outdoor activities. You get to experience snow caves, tent camping, bonfires, ice climbing and long days out in the winter mountains.

In February we travel to the Alps . Here we bring the skills from Hallingdal into a new mountain landscape. Summit tours and randonee give us new challenges and experiences, and we adapt the trips to the conditions and the group.

Over the winter, we continue to develop our skills at home. We plan trips, share tasks, and become more confident in ourselves and each other.

In April we will travel to Svalbard . Here we will encounter Arctic nature with snow-capped mountains, vast expanses and a completely different landscape than at home. Towards the end of April, the midnight sun becomes part of the experience, the light gives the winter days a special atmosphere and sets a great frame for the last big line trip of the year.

Who is the line suitable for?

This is not the line for world champions. That means that regular good form will do the trick. The most important thing you have with you is the desire to get out on a ride, and the curiosity about what awaits you out there.

Teacher

Meet the teacher

Arne Myksvoll is a teacher at Friluftsliv Norge. He grew up in Bergen, but he thrives best in the mountains, especially when it's winter, snow and long days on the trail.

Arne has worked for many years as an outdoor teacher at folk high schools in Sogndal, Bømlo and Hallingdal, among others. He is educated in sports, outdoor life and science from the colleges of Telemark and Sogn og Fjordane, as well as the Oslo School of Sports and Health Sciences.

On a trip with Arne, you won't just learn about karting, skiing, and camping. You'll also learn what it's like to thrive outdoors, both when the sun is shining and when the weather isn't quite cooperating.

He enjoys most forms of outdoor activities, but the winter mountains are his favorite.

Motto:
Go on a hike, in harmony with nature!
