Packing list for Hallingdal Folk High School

Many people wonder what they should pack for a year at folk high school.
Here you will get a simple overview of what you must have , and what is just nice to have with you on the road.

Must have

• Duvet, pillow and bedding

• Necessary equipment for your line (see information under each line)

• Clothes for different occasions
  – Everyday clothes
  – Something nice for parties and events

• Wool underwear and wool socks

• Warm mid-layers (such as fleece or wool sweater)

• Wind and waterproof jacket and trousers

• Warm jacket for winter

• Hat, mittens and neck warmer/buff

• Shoes for everyday use, hiking and winter use

• Passport, European Health Insurance Card and proof of insurance

Nice to have

• Indoor shoes or slippers for use at the boarding school

• Hiking equipment: sleeping bag, sleeping pad and backpack

• Clothesline and pegs for drying

• Thermos and drinking bottle

• Headlamp and small first aid kit

• Extra mattress topper or bedspread for extra comfort

• Pictures, posters or small items that make the room personal

• Board games, deck of cards or trivia for social evenings

Remember: You don't have to have everything ready on the first day.
You will quickly find out what you actually need once you have started and become familiar with the school, the course and mountain life here in Hallingdal.
