At Hallingdal Folkehøgskole you choose a line you want to spend time on. You can immerse yourself in skiing and snowboarding, outdoor activities, golf, pet care or yoga, skiing and surfing. Through the electives you also get to try other interests, from motocross to stress management.
The mountains leave their mark on the school year. In the fall we use trails and hiking trails. When the snow comes, Gol Ski Center is right next to the school, and several ski centers in Hallingdal give us opportunities throughout the winter. Here there is room for both activity and quiet walks.
The boarding school is your home throughout the year. You share meals, experiences and ordinary everyday life with the other students. The community grows on trips, in classes, around the dinner table and in the evenings in the fireplace room. You don't have to know anyone from before or be the one who takes up the most space.
We are a small school where students and staff get to know each other well. The teachers go on trips and take part in everyday school life. There is always someone to ask questions, share an idea with or talk to when something is difficult. At the same time, you get to practice taking responsibility for yourself and for the life you share at school.
You also help shape the year. Through the student council, activities and joint projects, you can make suggestions and help make something happen. We need both those who take the initiative and those who help along the way.
Hallingdal is a liberal folk high school, open to people with different views and backgrounds. Our values are community, freedom, shared responsibility, tolerance and care. This means space to be yourself, respect for others and a shared responsibility for everyone to have a good time at school.
