There is new enthusiasm and good energy at Hallingdal Folkehøgskole as we enter a new year and a new semester. With the start of the second semester, we have also had several new students, who have quickly found their place in the community.
Outdoor activities are on their first ski trip in the winter mountains, with two nights in an unmanned cabin. Here, the students get to experience real winter outdoor activities, with responsibility, cooperation and close-up nature experiences. Cold days, clear nights and silence in the mountains provide space for both coping and reflection.
The slopes are full of activity. Switch is challenging themselves and learning new skills on skis and boards. The focus is on development, safe progression and skiing fun, regardless of level.
Balance has mindfulness and presence as a starting point for the winter. Through calm sessions, movement and breathing, the students work on inner peace and strength. At the same time, they also share beautiful days on the slopes with Switch, where experience, mastery and community are at the center.
At Dyrepasser, the students have already visited donkeys, and today the trip continues to Langedrag. Here they will meet moose and other animals, and learn about nature with respect, curiosity and responsibility as basic values.
At the same time, Hallingdal Folkehøgskole is represented at the Education Fair in Trondheim, where media scholarship holders and students meet future applicants and share experiences from folkehøgskole life. It is great to let the students themselves talk about everyday life, the courses and the community and show the school as it actually is.
Everyday life at school encompasses both silence and activity, challenge and security. New friendships are made, experiences are shared, and learning happens through doing things together.
