You can arrive any time that day – we’ll be here to welcome you from 10 a.m.

🍲 Soup will be served upon arrival, followed by a cozy evening meal at 7 p.m.
After dinner, when parents and guardians have left, we’ll gather for a simple opening ceremony in the gym at 8 p.m.

💸 Tuition

The total cost for one school year (2026/2027) is NOK 150 000 – 157 000, depending on your chosen program.
Tuition includes:

  • All meals and accommodation

  • Teaching, school activities, and use of facilities

  • Most trips and excursions

A few optional costs may apply:

  • Special diet (medical reasons)

  • Single room supplement (NOK 7 000 per year)

  • Personal equipment and small food costs on trips

🪪 Residence Permit and Visa

🇪🇺 EU / EEA / Swiss Citizens

You must register for residence at www.udi.no before arrival.
Book an appointment with the Immigration Police in Hønefoss (Sør-Øst police district) – ideally during the second week of school.

Remember your UDI login information, and book early – appointments fill quickly!

🌍 Non-EU Citizens

You need a Student Residence Permit from UDI before entering Norway.

  1. Pay your full tuition first.

  2. The school will send you a Letter of Confirmation (proof of payment and admission).

  3. Submit both letters with your online application.

Apply as soon as possible and include all documents – missing papers delay processing.
After arrival, book an appointment with the Immigration Police in Hønefoss to collect your residence permit card.

🎓 Financial Support (Lånekassen)

Norwegian citizens can apply for support from Lånekassen.
For the 2026/2027 school year, the total amount is about NOK 158 000, and 40 % becomes a grant after completing the year.
You must submit the application yourself – the school confirms it on your first day.

🏡 Room and Board

Most students share double rooms; a few single rooms are available.

Each room includes:
🛏 Two beds (80 cm wide) 🪞 Sink and mirror 🗄 Wardrobe and shelves 🪑 Bedside table and drawers

Bring:

  • Duvet, pillow, and bed linen (foreign students may borrow)

  • Towels

  • Personal decorations (posters, photos, lights)

  • Optional: thicker mattress topper or bedspread

🧼 Label your clothes and gear!

Also pack wind- and waterproof clothing, warm layers, hat, gloves, sturdy shoes, sleeping bag, and sleeping mat – the whole school goes hiking the first week!

🏠 Single Rooms

If you want a single room, email post@hallingdalfhs.no with your reason.
Extra cost: NOK 7 000 per year (split into invoices for December and May).

Vegetarian food is provided at no extra cost.
